At Townfolio, we use a wide range of tools to complete our daily tasks, and my favourite tools are the ones that come for free.
In this post, we’ll be sharing with you all the free stock image sites that we use. At Townfolio we use a number of stock image sites to help us with our blog content, social media posts, newsletters and our website.
High-quality images are a great way to convey an idea, message or feeling, so having access to the right image will help you communicate more effectively.
For economic developers and municipal employees, I would recommend using pixabay. This site gives you access to a large stockpile of professional-grade photos. To quote pixabay they are a “vibrant community of creatives, sharing copyright-free images and videos. All contents are released under the Pixabay License, which makes them safe to use without asking for permission or giving credit to the artist – even for commercial purposes.” So you can use and share these images without worrying about stepping on anyone toes.
Looking for more artistic photos? Unsplash may be the stock photo site for you. This site has around 300,000 stunning, high-quality photos to choose from. Images include, wallpapers, textures, architecture, food, animals and so much more. Their tagline is “Over 1 million free high-resolution images brought to you by the world’s most generous community of photographers.” You’ll never run out of beautiful photos to choose from by using unsplash.
For those of you looking for more quirky photos, then Gratisography is the stock photo site you should be using. They claim to be the “the world’s quirkiest collection of free high-resolution pictures, comprised of the world’s best, most creative images – photos you just won’t find anywhere else.” And these images are all completely free to download.
We hope you found these sites as useful as we do at Townfolio. Whether you’re an economic developer, municipal employee, or city councillor these free stock photo sites will help you find the right images to help aid in your communications.
